Pudsey Tables Tennis's Sandra Rider, partnered with Shirley Gelder from Sunderland, competed in the age 60-64 doubles. In the group stages they played a German pair, a Chinese pair and a USA/Hong Kong pair and won all three matches to go through to the main championship draw.
In Round 1 they played a very strong Chinese pair and won the match 3-2 11-7 in the 5th. Next up was an Australian pair who had already achieved a world bronze medal in the previous World Championships, but Sandra and Shirley beat them comfortably 3-0. The duo's hardest match was in the last 8, against another Chinese pair which they won 11-9 in the 5th to put them into the semi-final against a very strong Indian pair. This pair proved too strong, winning 3-0 to leave the ladies with a World Veterans Bronze Medal.
